The Benton Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners are accepting applications for two scholarships available to High School students in Benton County. Students are eligible for either of these scholarships if their planned course of study is in any of the fields of agriculture and/or natural resources, AND they reside in Benton County.
The first scholarship is offered by the Conservation Districts of Iowa, a statewide organization of local District Commissioners. All seniors in the state are eligible to compete for three scholarships offered; one for $1800, one for $1200 and one for $1000. Applications are to be submitted to the Soil & Water Conservation District office in the county where the student lives by March 1, 2012. The District commissioners will select an application and forward it to the CDI Regional Director. Each Regional Director will submit one application to forward to the Auxiliary President who will make the final selection.
The Benton County Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners are also sponsoring a scholarship this year.
Please feel free to contact the Benton SWCD at 319-472-2161 or stop by the office at 1705 West D Street, Vinton, to obtain the application forms.
