The Benton County Soil & Water Conservation District and the Old Creamery Nature Trail have teamed up to offer tree seedlings for sale. This might be your opportunity to replace those windbreaks, or shade trees Mother Nature took with her last July. Or to establish a new windbreak and provide that shade you’ve been missing. You could even establish an area to provide wildlife shelter.
This program will offer both evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs for sale as bare root seedlings that are approximately a foot to two feet in height. They will come in bundles of 25 plants. You can order for yourself, or order together with a neighbor and split a bundle.
Funds raised from this sale will help the Benton SWCD provide funds for scholarship awards, contest prizes for school kids and other educational programs. The Old Creamery Nature Trail will use the funds for limestone surfacing, maintenance and other trail needs.
Pick up an order form at the Benton SWCD office, 1705 West D Street in Vinton, or you can download a copy from the Benton SWCD website at www.bentonswcd.net or Old Creamery Nature Trail website at www.oldcreamerynaturetrail.org. If you have questions, please feel free to contact either the Benton SWCD office at 319-472-2161 or contact Randy Scheel of the Old Creamery Nature Trail at 319-477-3150.
