Vinton Shellsburg High School Band ends record breaking year wirh Concert Band Division I Rating!

On Friday night, the Vinton-Shellsburg High School Band Department finished a record breaking school year with a Concert Band Division I rating at IHSMA State Festival. Earning the rating of Division I for Concert Band completes a year in which the band department has earned, for the first time, a Division I in every ensemble in the band department. Mr. Smith stated, “I am so proud of the students. What a fabulous year this has been! Leading up to our performance Friday night, I have never been so nervous for a group of students. I really wanted them to end the year with a huge bang....especially after a year like the one we’ve had.” “I absolutely love this band. The students are so talented and are truly a class act. They have set a standard for future VSHS band students.” “I’m also so happy for the seniors. We have been through so many things together, the highs and the lows- through thick and thin, and nothing makes me more happy than to see them achieve, learn, and perform at such a high level.” The band’s last performance will take place this Saturday at the annual Cabaret Concert at VSHS at 7 P.M. Smith stated, “It will be nice to see the band students relaxed and have a lot of fun….they certainly deserve it!”
