ID tag, microchip, reporting to the shelter lost & found, FOTSI posting found pets on Vinton Today and on facebook, all have resulted in lost pets being reunited with their owners at a record number. The 2011 statistics for reclaimed pets from the shelter are 55 dogs and 1 cat. Some found/lost pets not at the shelter were reunited because they had ID tags attached and citizens that found the pets called the owners directly, otherwise the numbers would be even higher. We know sometimes pets get away so isn't it wonderful that we have such a great community that looks out for the lost and found? Please make sure that your pet is up to date on rabies shot (IA state law requires it for dogs over 6 months of age) and that they have some form of ID on them whether it is a telephone number written on their collar or their rabies tag attached to their collar (Vinton city ordinance for dogs), they will have a better chance of being reunited with their family. www.pawsforfriends.com
