News : Benton County Sheriff\'s Report, August 2012

Benton County Sheriff Randall Forsyth reports that deputies answered 342 calls for service and investigated 11 accidents. Deputies attempted to serve 210 civil papers and issued 72 traffic citations and 139 traffic warnings.

There were 49 arrests/juvenile referrals with 103 charges being filed in August 2012.

Twenty-two (22) were simple misdemeanors, and thirty-two (32) were indictable misdemeanors, and forty-nine (49) were felony charges.

Charges included: Theft – 18; Possession of Alcohol Under Legal Age – 1; Public Intoxication – 1; Drug / Drug Related – 2; OWI – 11; Interference With Official Acts – 1; Harassment – 1; Forgery – 1; Driving While Suspended / Revoked –9; Assault – 8; Disorderly Conduct – 1; Criminal Mischief – 6; Arrest Warrants served – 17; Burglary – 26.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
