The thermometers in Iowa dipped below 32 degrees for the first time this fall on Sunday morning.
Thermometers throughout the Vinton area recorded temperatures of 32 degrees or lower for the first time of the fall of 2012. According to the ISU Extension, the average first freeze takes place in Benton County between Oct. 3 and 6.
