The large evergreen tree used for the annual Tree of Lights ceremony was destroyed by the storm of July 11, 2011. The tree planted to replace it had already begun to experience crowding issues, and has been moved.

After pondering other options, Virginia Gay Hospital leaders decided to install a new fountain in the area where the large evergreen once stood, just outside the main entrance.

"We like the way the fountain looked in front of the Nursing and Rehab entrance, so we decided to install another one there," said VGH Administrator Mike Riege.
