On the night of October 10, 2012, 18 members of the Vinton-Shellsburg FFA chapter attended the annual Greenhand Fire Up Night at Wapsie Valley High School.  Greenhand Fire Up is a night for first year members (greenhands). It is to teach them more about FFA,  what all is available through FFA, and what agriculture can do and lead to in your future.  Though it is for Greenhands, any member can go to learn more about FFA.  At the school, you get a t-shirt, a meal, and go through four different short workshops that are taught by a variety of district and state officers.  This year the focus of the workshops were learning about Careers in Ag, Communications, SAE’s, and FFA Jeopardy, where we learned about FFA history, CDE’s, and the future of Ag.  Overall we had a fun night, met new people, and learned a lot!
