Looking for some unique gifts for your family or friends for Christmas?
Virginia Gay Hospital has some ideas.
Want a snowman kit, complete with wooden arms, orange nose and black hat? It's there.
Want to give a child in your life a soft Tow Mater -- you know, the tow truck from the "Cars" movies? He's there, too.
Also available: Bird feeders (and of course, bird seed); a cooler; a walker with hand brakes; items for your favorite Hawkeye or Cyclone fan; car care items; a Candy Land game complete with a Santa with a pink stocking cap.
These are just a few of the items available in the Third Annual Virginia Gay Tree Walk, which is is now under way. Hospital departments and other groups and businesses have begun setting up trees and wreaths, which will be sold by silent auction.
Other trees include hand-crafted decorations, a Dr. Seuss tribute, as well as a tree based on the Dr. Who TV Show. Many trees include a variety of traditional Christmas colors or flowers. Pet lovers, and those who want a tree in pink, white, or blue , or even red, white and blue, also may find something to bid on.
The event began two years ago and is being continued this year, led by the VGH Respiratory or Cardiac Rehab Departments.
Anyone is welcome to browse and bid; the trees are in the lobby and hallway. Edward Jones is again sponsoring the event, which helps raise money for the Tree of Lights event. More than 25 trees and wreaths are being offered by auction.
Hospital leaders again thank Edward Jones for its generous sponsorship.

Today we took our daughter up to see the trees. I knew there would be more set up since the last time we were there.
I just have to say that I am so impressed with all the trees and wreaths. The creativity and aesthetics are fantastic! It is so festive and cheerful.
Congratulations everyone on such wonderful decorations and for being so generous in your support of a good cause.
Don't forget to walk down the hallway and see the trees down there. I am particularly fond of the Dr. Seuss tree and the Doctor Who tree. But then I'm biased. ;)
