Since 2005 Iowa Braille has been hosting an annual reunion of former students, staff and friends of the school. This year the Iowa Braille Alumni Association is extending an invitation to the community to take part in reunion activities. “Each year we have a group of alums who bring their instruments and gather for an evening to sing and play music. This year we would like those from the Vinton area to bring their musical instruments and talents and join in the fun.” said Alumni President Robert Spangler. “The school has been a part of the community since the campus was given to the state to be the home of the school in 1858. Music being played is a big part in the schools history and the community of Vinton has benefitted through attendance of those events.”
The reunion will start the evening of June 10th and end the morning of June 13th after a memorial service that will be held in the schools auditorium. “The music will start around 7:30 Friday and Saturday evenings at the Braille School.” There is also a talent show Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the auditorium.”
Bring your instruments, singing voice and join in the fun or just come and listen to the wonderful music.
