ATKINS, IA — Give yourself the gift of free health screenings this holiday season with a visit to the Community Health Clinic at the Atkins Family Medical Clinic and Therapy on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 8-11 am.
Stephanie Vogeler, PA-C and her staff, along with members of the Atkins Family Pharmacy, Virginia Gay Hospital Physical and Occupational Therapists, Benton County Public Health nurse and Virginia Gay Home Health invite you to attend the clinic for a variety of free screenings and opportunity to acquaint yourself with all the additional services they offer their patients.
Activities at the clinic include a free blood pressure check to help you know these numbers and control your risk for heart disease and stroke by managing your blood pressure. You may also choose to receive a free fall risk assessment. Each year, 1 in 3 adults age 65 or older will fall. These falls are largely preventable and this assessment will help you learn if you at risk and how you can prevent a fall. In addition, there will be free blood sugar readings. It’s important to know your numbers in this category as high or low blood sugars can impact your balance and risk of a fall.
By attending this clinic, you’ll have the added opportunity of visiting with a pharmacist about your current medications and any possible side effects. Some side effects impact your balance and place you at a greater risk for a fall.
It’s also not too late to protect yourself from the flu. The vaccines will be available for those who have not yet gotten their flu shots this season.
So mark your calendar and make plans to attend this event complete with refreshments at the Atkins Family Medical Clinic and Therapy located at 401 Cardinal Ave., Atkins.
