On Friday, Dec 14, members of the North Eden Willing Workers 4H club spent their afternoon spreading Christmas joy to the residents at the Vinton Lutheran Home.
During the two weeks prior, several NEWW members spent time sewing beautiful holiday pillowcases in the Vinton-Shellsburg FCS room, which was a great opportunity for some members to learn new sewing skills and for others to share their skills.
Each member was asked to bring items to fill the pillowcase, including items like socks, lotion, jewelry, and holiday treats.
After getting out of school early, the many of the NEWW club members gathered at the Vinton Lutheran Home and worked together to fill the pillowcases with holiday gift for the residents. There members had so many gifts to share that they also filled lapblankets which had been donated to the VLH.
Once the pillowcases and blankets were filled and the cards for each resident were written, the members began delivering to the residents. The smiles and connections made were great reminders of the the true meaning of giving.
