The first big campaign of the new year for the Virginia Gay Hospital Foundation is the Plaza of Heroes.
This walkway around the new fountain near the main entry to the hospital will honor those who have contributed to the hospital and our community.
Our hopes and goals for the Plaza of Heroes are;
1) To honor loved ones by having their names engraved in bricks that will surround the new fountain in front of the hospital. Their collective legacies will weave a rich tapestry of the people who have influenced our communities.
2) We will publish a short biography of the people who are being honored, information to be provided by the family of the donor. This biography, if you choose to provide us with one, will be published on the Foundation website – www.myvgh.org/foundation.
3) The money that we make from this project will be used just as our Tree of Lights money is used, to further the Virginia Gay Hospital & Clinics Tradition of Healing.
All of our current Hospital Board members and Foundation Board members were given bricks as Christmas presents, and Mr. Mike Riege, VGH Administrator, was given one for Boss’s Day this fall. They will be the first names engraved this spring when the weather clears. One additional note, Kurt’s Enterprises will be doing the engraving so we look forward to working with them to make this project a big success.
Please refer to the website if you have any additional questions about the Plaza of Heroes or any of the other Foundation programs or feel free to call the Foundation Office at 472-6375. Thank you.
