When Kim Hinschberger offered to donate $5,000 on behalf of Frontier Natural Products to the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight, George Rickey told her with a smile that such a donation would pose a problem.

$5,000 would pay for 9 1/2 veterans to go from the Eastern Iowa Airport to Washington, D.C.

"I told her 'Try harder, I would not want to be that 1/2 veteran as we do not have the capability of sawing him in half to send over two flights.'" said George, one of the leaders of the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight organization.

That little exchange of joking inspired Kim to raise another $500; the company has now donated enough to send ten whole veterans.

Eastern Iowa Honor Flight would like to thank Kim Hinschberger (blue), Jackie Patterson (red), and the employees of Frontier Natural Products for their donation of $5500 to Eastern Iowa Honor Flight. Finance Officer Roger Uthoff and George traveled out to Frontier recently to present them with a certificate of appreciation for their generous and thoughtful donation. "While there we picked up additional donations that brought us to the $5500 total! Kim's father-in-law (a Korean veteran) was on the September flight. Based on his reaction to his day in Washington, Kim recruited Jackie, and they set off on a fund-raising campaign. I feel it safe to say they were quite successful. Once again, on behalf of the volunteers, the board, but more importantly, the veterans we serve, thank you Kim, Jackie, and Frontier Natural products and their employees, for contributing to the continuation of our mission" says George.

Hundreds of Eastern Iowa veterans have flown for free to Washington, D.C., thanks to the many generous contributions from Iowans. More flights are scheduled for 2013, for veterans of WWII, Korea and Vietnam.
