The Eastern Iowa Honor Flight is announcing the dates of the first two flights of 2013. They will be leaving from the Eastern Iowa Airport on April 23, and May 21.
The flights will once again have World War II veterans as the first priority. We are now accepting and will fly Korean War veterans on these flights if there are not enough World War II veterans available to fill the aircraft. Additionally, and veteran with a terminal medical condition who is able to go on the flight, will also be given priority consideration.
The April flight will be sponsored by a World War II veteran and his wife. Myron "Mike" Wilson, and his wife Esther, have graciously made a substantial donation to sponsor this flight. Mike flew on one of the earliest Honor Flights out of Eastern Iowa, and was so moved by the experience, that he feels that any World War II veteran or Korean veteran who is able to go, should go. The generosity of Mike and Esther is helping make the opportunity available. He currently serves as a Veteran's Advisor to the Board of Directors of the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight.
