The Vinton Unlimited Board of Directors held its second meeting of 2013 on Tueday, Feb. 12. The members discussed future projects, annual events and efforts to bring new businesses and industries to Vinton.
The Vinton Unlimited Board of Directors consists of members of the community who are dedicated to creating an environment for the Vinton Community, where existing business can thrive and new business can find the support they need to succeed. Vinton Unlimited currently has five standing committees that can offer a chance for everyone to pitch in, as well as, provide you with a positive feeling of involvement and a great sense of accomplishment.
VU consists of several committees who work together to improve Vinton in a variety of ways:
Business Opportunity Group –VU has benefited the last several years from some real talent and dedication of a core group of members who concentrate on Industrial recruitment and economic development through new business and job growth. They would welcome some fresh ideas in this challenging and interesting pursuit. Currently they meet at 6:30pm on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at city hall.
Community Affairs This group of planners like to think big. Their main event the last several years has been Boom-Fest (in conjunction with one of the largest fireworks festivals in the Midwest!). They also organize the Mini-Masters Golf Tournament every February and keep VU in the spotlight in many ways throughout the year. If event planning is your thing, you’re a natural fit. They meet the 1st Friday of each month at Noon at the Vinton Kirkwood Center.
Business Promotions These are the promoters who put together sales events, block parties and other business enhancement events. This committee meets the first Tuesday of each month at 9:30am at Peppy’s Ice Cream.
Destination Vinton This is Vinton Unlimited’s newest committee that is actively working to promote Vinton’s unique history and other attractions to a larger audience. Bus tours and historical tours of our Braille School are the beginning works of this committee with much larger tourism-focused goals in mind. If you like the sound of Destination Vinton we need your help!!
Membership The growth and capabilities of VU are always dependent upon financial support and participation from our members. These are the people who tell the story of VU through newsletters, after hour events and the annual meeting. This year’s annual meeting key note speaker is Dan Gable and it takes place on March 1st at Tilford Elementary School.
We would love to have every member of the community take part in Vinton Unlimited in whatever way they see fit. We can always use help planning new events, promotions, and activities! Vinton Unlimited is here for the Community of Vinton and we want to help you take part in the fun. Let us know how you want to get involved and if you have new ideas, please touch base with any of our board members or stop by the Vinton Unlimited office located in City Hall and have a chat with the VU Director.
Hope to see you soon!
