For the very last time as Tilford music teacher, Connie Zenk directed a concert by elementary students on Monday night.

Mrs. Zenk will retire at the end of this school year, after 25 years of teaching for the district.

She told the parents that the goal of the programs she organized was to show what musical lessons the students have learned over the past year.

At the end of the concert, Principal Jim Murray presented Mrs. Zenk with a bouquet of flowers, and she received a standing ovation from the audience as well as a confetti salute from the first-graders.

The concert featured a variety of songs that demonstrate how the children have learned about singing voices and rhythm.

SH April 26, 2013, 9:52 am Thank You Mrs. Zenk, you are truly a class act. You showed my boys that singing and music is fun. A love that they will have forever. Have a great retirement you deserve it! =;0)
VB April 26, 2013, 10:30 am I always enjoy going to the kids\' programs and seeing the pictures afterwards. Last night I went to the Shellsburg school for their Spring music program. They are are of the same school district. Where are the pictures from there?

Editor\'s Note: Probably somewhere between covering 2 sports events, one business event, another concert and the city council meeting...so far we haven\'t been able to clone Dean...however, in situations where you don\'t see Dean there, feel free to snap a few photos, send them to VintonToday@hotmail.com, with any info you have, and he can work his magic! VB April 26, 2013, 12:54 pm Thank you for your response. Next I\'ll remember my camera. It was so neat. Each class were to wear a specific colored shirt. One grade blue another green etc... The final song they all lined up to create a rainbow.
LK April 26, 2013, 5:26 pm You are going to be missed very much. I can still remember my three boys going through your music class and now two of them are graduating this year, you made a different in each of their lives and my daughter is now over at middle school and the last time she saw you was right before she did the middle school play and she told me to tell you that if it wasn\'t for you encouraging her in music she wouldn\'t be where she is today and want to tell you a big \"thank you\". I want to tell you good luck and we will all miss you.
