On May 1, 2013 the Vinton Shellsburg FFA Chapter helped with the annual third grade ag day at the Benton County Fairgrounds. Members worked to teach sessions, be group leaders, and help serve lunch.

We had members teaching and helping out with a variety of sessions including: Swine, Beef Cattle, Dairy Cattle, Goats and Sheep, Corn and Soybean, Horses, Farm Equipment, and Rabbits and Poultry. Student group leaders led groups of third graders from different schools around to each of these sessions for 15 minutes each. Once the first round of sessions and schools was over, they ate lunch and we did it all over again with new schools.

This year we also had a couple members from Benton Community FFA helping out and teaching Beef Cattle. Overall, I think we had a very successful and fun day. We look forward to many years to come.
