Matt Lash of Vinton, along with his dad, Jay, and several members of Boy Scout Troop 47, spent Saturday removing a concrete slab from the Vinton Animal Shelter property.

Matt has been in Scouts for many years and is working on his Eagle Scout badge, the highest available in the Boy Scouts USA organization. His Eagle Scout project is replacing that slab wth some benches and landscaping, as well as replacing the entrance to the shelter.

Matt will join other Scouts at camps in the coming weeks, but will complete the project later this summer.
