Obituaries : Anlah “Ann” McCann

SHELLSBURG:  Anlah “Ann” McCann, 88 of Shellsburg died Monday, August 12, 2013 at the Rock Ridge Residential Care Center in Shellsburg.

     Funeral Services:  2:00 PM, Thursday, August 15, 2013, Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Avenue, Vinton.  Officiating:  Pastor Connie Wacht.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Family Center.  Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg.

     “Ann” was born August 8, 1925 the daughter of Ezra and Oma (Phelps) Huntley in Sheraton, Iowa.  She was united in marriage to M.W. “Bud” McCann on October 21, 1948 in Cedar Rapids.

     “Ann” worked side-by-side her husband of nearly 66 years on the farm.  She was always busy farming, cooking, canning and spending time with her family.  “Ann” dearly loved spending time with her grandson and great-grandchildren.  She especially enjoyed going to her grandson’s basketball games.

     She is survived by her husband of nearly 66 years, M.W. “Bud” McCann of Shellsburg; her daughter, Carol (Tony Baker) Overbey of Cedar Rapids; her grandson, Charles (Kelly) Overbey of Urbana; and her great-grandchildren, Joseph Overbey of Urbana, Jessica (Cody) Randall of Shellsburg and Jayson and Jordan Overbey both of Urbana.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and three sisters.
