Obituaries : Ruth Huck

La Porte City — Ruth Huck, 89, died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at the La Porte City Nursing and Rehab of natural causes.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jubilee, 12007 Jubilee Rd, La Porte City, with Rev. Jenna Couch officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, September 24, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton and an hour before service time at the church on Wednesday. Burial at the Jubilee Cemetery.

Ruth was born May 29, 1924 in Fairfax, IA, the daughter of Ernst and Marie Froelich Andersen. She attended school in Vinton, graduating in 1942. On December 3, 1946 she married Erwin Huck at the Zion Evangelical Church in Jubilee. The couple farmed near Jubilee until their retirement, when they moved to Vinton.

Ruth was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Jubilee, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vinton. She enjoyed drawing and sketching, horses and her farm animals and she loved cooking big family dinners.

She is survived by two sisters, Jean Seaman, Independence and Christine Bierschenk, Newhall, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Hedwig Dillon and her brother, Ernest Andersen.
