NEWHALL: Lois ‘Arlene’ (Butz) Johnson, 72 of Newhall died December 29, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, January 4, 2013 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Newhall with Father Craig Steimel as Celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM on Friday also at St. Paul Catholic Church in Newhall. Interment will in Raetz Cemetery near Atkins at a later date. A Memorial Fund has been established.
Arlene was born November 9, 1941 at Pittsburg, Kansas to George and Mary Ruth (Woods) Knapp. She graduated from Atkins High School. Arlene retired from the Iowa Department of Transportation.
On September 23, 1995 Arlene was united in marriage to Robert Johnson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
In her leisure she enjoyed doing arts and crafts, quilting, collecting antiques and playing cards. Arlene most enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Johnson of Newhall; her children, Brenda Glaser of Cedar Rapids, Steve (Cheryl) Butz of Woodbury, MN, Patrick (Tina) Butz of Newhall; her stepchildren, Michelle Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Michael (Lisa) Johnson of Edwardsville, IL; her grandchildren, Abbie (Jeremy) Springer of Blairstown, Molly Durkee of Cedar Rapids, Misty Butz of Saint Paul, MN, Tiffany Butz of Johnston, IA, Nickolas (Megan) Butz of Cedar Falls, Morgan Butz of Newhall, Paige Butz of Cedar Rapids; her step grandchildren, Bobbie (Jeremy) Perrone, Karrin Trombley, Michael (Jessica) Trombley, Joseph Johnson, and Clara Johnson; her great grandchildren, Levi Durkee, Cameron Springer, Nathan Allnutt, Madison Springer, Maliyah Durkee and DaNeka Marquina; her step great grandchild, Aubrie Perrone; her sisters, Earlene (Eldon) Stueck of Atkins; Linda Stark of Cedar Rapids, Sandra (Larry) Vetter of Larimore, ND and Mary (Steve) Noeller of Marion.
In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her sister, Georgia Ruth Knapp.
