Dale L. Cantonwine, 83, of Tipton, died Sunday, January 05, 2014, in Mercy Hospital Hospice Care, Iowa City.

Dale was born on October 2, 1930 on a farm in Benton County, Iowa. He was the son of Leland and Marie Moubry Cantonwine. Dale graduated from Vinton High School in 1949.

On June 26, 1949 Dale was united in marriage to Patricia LaVonne Primmer in Vinton.

He was a meat cutter and owned and operated Cantonwine Locker Service in Stanwood, Iowa for many years. Dale was a member of the First United Church of Christ, a past Scout Leader and Lion's Club Member. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Dale is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Patricia Cantonwine of Tipton, Iowa; his five children, Connie Hasenbank of Tipton, Iowa, Mike (Debbie) Cantonwine of Tucson, Arizona, Vonda (Randy) Moore of San Angelo, Texas, Wendy Daedlow of Tipton, Iowa and Randy (Janet) Cantonwine of Donnellson, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren; brother, Raymond Cantonwine of Independence, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Cantonwine.

Per Dale's request there will be no formal services. Memorial gifts may be shared with Mercy Hospital Foundation, 500 E. Market Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52245

JC( January 7, 2014, 1:13 pm So sorry to hear of Dale\'s passing. I remember him when we were kids, he kept cattle on the High Point farm next to where we lived on the east end of Vinton. Will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.
