Richard "Dick" Andreesen age 83, died Wednesday February 5, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 Saturday morning, February 8, 2014 at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church, rural Monticello with interment in the Wayne Zion Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 until 7 Friday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Thoughts, Memories and Condolences may be left at goettschonline.com. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.

Surviving is his loving wife of 63 years Cleo, three sons, Arnie (Joan) , Anamosa, Ron (Barb), Center Junction, Larry (Jan) Vinton, seven grandchildren, David (fiance, Amy) , Jeremy, Adam, Kurt (Robin), Sarah (Ryan) Olsem, Claire, and Matthew, 2 great-grandchildren, Conner and Emma, and a sister, Kathryn Stivers, Dexter, MI., He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, Scott Stivers.

Richard H. W. Andreesen was born July 26, 1930 in Jones County, near Langworthy. He was the son of Henry and Anna Siebels, Andreesen. Dick graduated from the Olin High School in 1950. He married his only love Cleo Reuter on October 8, 1950 at Wayne Zion. Richard and Cleo farmed on several different farms in Jones County until 1961 when they moved to the Andreesen family farm. Richard's greatest joy was being with Cleo. He was always proud her wonderful cooking and her great gardening skills. Over the years they enjoyed many activities with their friends and family including dancing, playing cards, and traveling together. Richard served on the Center Junction Coop board. He enjoyed going into the Coop for coffee in the morning and getting all the latest news.

Richard was a life long member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. He was baptized there on August 24, 1930 and confirmed his faith on May 28, 1944. He had also served on the church council .
