CENTER POINT:
Fay A. Strait, 84, died Friday, March 7, 2014 at his family home where he lived his entire life, surrounded by his family and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton with Pastor Zach Zajicek officiating. Interment will be held at the Cox Cemetery near Urbana. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m., on Monday. A memorial fund has been established for the North Linn Fish & Game Club.

Fay was born April 6, 1929 at his family home near Center Point to Ben and Ella (Hansen) Strait.

On April 15, 1950 he was united in marriage to Lila Currier at Milan, IL She preceded him in death on September 20, 2002.

Fay was a farmer and he also was employed as an Iron Worker at Iowa Steel & Iron Works in Cedar Rapids. He retired in 1981.

He was a member of North Linn Fish & Game Club in Central City. He donated his original family cabin to the Historical Society in Center Point and it was placed at Wakema Park. Fay enjoyed working on and restoring old tractors and gas engines and was an avid collector.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews and his beloved canine companion, "George Strait".

In addition to his parents and wife, Lila, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Alvin "Bud" Strait and Clair Strait; and his sister, Lois Carman.
