Obituaries : Bronson Werning

NEWHALL:

Bronson Paul Werning, 23, died Sunday, November 9, 2014 at his rural Newhall home.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E 6th St. in Vinton, with Rev. Connie Wacht officiating. Interment will be at St. John Cemetery near Newhall. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m., Friday. The casket will be closed at all times.

Bronson as born October 22, 1991 at Cedar Rapids to Kendall and Sandy (Svoboda) Werning and graduated from the Vinton-Shellsburg High School in 2010.

Bronson served as FFA Vice President and was a 4-H member while in high school. He had been employed at Westside Salvage and Newhall Feed Store and was currently employed at Tri-State Tower in Marion. During the harvest he enjoyed helping local farmers. Bronson loved the outdoors and spending time with his friends.

He is survived by his father, Kendall Werning (Laura Hootman) of Newhall; his mother, Sandy (Steve) Svoboda-Smith of Wadsworth, IL; his step-brothers, Shane (Merideth) Smith of Fort Worth,Texas, and Nate (Erika) Smith of Osceola; his maternal grandmother, Donna Rudd of Shellsburg; his paternal aunt and uncle, Janelle Nissen (Tom Schoonover) of Vinton, and Vaughn (Lisa) Werning of Ft. Dodge; his maternal aunts and uncles, Gregory P. (Lylelene) Svoboda of Shellsburg, Jeffrey A. (Monica) Svoboda of Vinton, Kelly J. (Curtis) Eldred of Clarence, and Jeremy E. (Christina) Rudd of Petersburg; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Loren and Delores Werning; and his maternal grandfathers, Ludwig J. Svoboda and Richard E. Rudd.
