Obituaries : Vicky L. Benson

MECHANICSVILLE – Vicky Lynn Benson, 56, died Thursday, August 12, 2010, at her home in Mechanicsville from an apparent heart attack. Visitation will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, August 16, at the Dysart Cemetery in Dysart, Iowa, with Pastor Ron Lashmilt officiating. Vicky was born January 9, 1954, in Libertyville, Illinois, the daughter of Wilbur and Hazel McFarland Corcran, Jr. She was raised and attended school in Dysart and Vinton. On December 11, 1982, Vicky was united in marriage with Jason Benson in Vinton. The most important things in Vicky’s life were her husband, children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed camping and fishing. Vicky is survived by her husband, Jason, of Mechanicsville; three daughters: Diana (Chuck) Anderson of Clinton, Samantha (Shawn Ford) Benson of Lisbon and Heather (Tim) Lambert of Morley; one son: Jon Benson of Iowa City; her father, Wilbur Corcran, Jr. of Vinton; and 8 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Corcran; one sister, Diana Cox; grandparents: Arthur and Mary McFarland and Wilbur and Cora Corcran, Sr.; and her mother-in-law, Lois Benson.
