BLAIRSTOWN: Marjorie Rose (Lewis) Nieland, 83 of Blairstown and Belle Plaine, died on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Belle Plaine Nursing and Rehab Center in Belle Plaine. Marjorie died of a broken heart after the passing of her husband, Dean R. Nieland on February 15, 2014.
Dean was cremated and Marjorie will join him in a double urn to be “Together Forever”. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Blairstown with a private family graveside service at a later date. A Celebration of Life for both Dean and Marjorie will be held at the Blairstown Presbyterian Church from 1 – 3 PM on Saturday, January 3, 2015. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Blairstown Presbyterian Church. Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown is in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie was born January 17, 1931 in Belle Plaine the daughter of Charles R. Lewis and Nellie Pearl “Babe” (Kane) Lewis. She was united in marriage to Dean R. Nieland on June 25, 1949 at the Blairstown Presbyterian Church.
Marjorie grew up and attended school in Belle Plaine. She was a homemaker, worked for Blairstown Consolidated Schools, Halverson Funeral Home in Blairstown and K-Mart West in Cedar Rapids for 17 years. She enjoyed her cats, flowers, collecting cookbooks and bells.
Marjorie is survived by her children, Robert (Sheryl) Nieland, Shellsburg and Michel (Patricia) Nieland, Belle Plaine and Carol (Kelly) Nugent, Amana. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Amber Tilley, Andrea Highberger, Tony and Mark Nieland, Dylan Nugent and Rhiannon Nugent and her great grandchildren, Ethan and Carli Highberger, Lindsay and Mackenzie Nieland, Archer Nieland and a baby that is due in April.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, Raymond Lewis, sister, Anna Mae Schoelerman, an infant sister, Alda Mae Rae and one granddaughter, Wendy Jo Schulze.
