VINTON – Irene Mae Cashman, 88, died Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at her residence in Vinton.

A memorial visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 4 at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton. Graveside services with Rev. Jessica Crane-Munoz officiating and inurnment will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, in Big Grove Cemetery, rural Vinton.

Irene was born at home March 28, 1927, the daughter of George and Bessie Terhune Conklin. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1945 and on June 18, 1945 she married Russell R. Cashman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Russell preceded her in death on July 25, 1994. Irene was a secretary for many years. She then worked as a cook at the West School for over twenty years. She was a longtime member of the Vinton Presbyterian Church. Russell and Irene enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and spending time outdoors with family.

Irene is survived by one son, James (Lisa) Cashman of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Linda (Larry) Rouse of Vinton; seven grandchildren, Larry (Kim) Rouse Jr, Bob (Audrey) Rouse, Brigette (Heath) Ayers, Nicki (Jeff) Silberger, Marc (Jade) Cashman, Brittany Cashman, Emily Cashman; ten great grandchildren, Shannon Galloway, Megan Franzen, Brandon Rouse, Kelsey Rouse, Destinee Silberger, Brady Silberger, Alicia Silberger, Caden Ayers, Avrien Ayers, Brixen Ayers; five great great grandchildren, Zack Galloway-Floyd, Blake Galloway, Sebastian Galloway-Floyd, Derrick and Kelly Franzen and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; son and daughter-in-law, David and Jacque Cashman; daughter Becky Sue; great-grandson Maddox; two sisters and one brother.

A memorial fund has been established.
