Vinton--Darrellene Kay Sivertsen Lane, age 68, died peacefully August 28, 2010 at her Vinton home after a courageous 13 year battle with cancer.

A memorial visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton.
Darrellene was born on a farm near Voorhies, Iowa, September 22, 1941 to Vernon Harold Sivertsen and Viola Fern Carstensen Sivertsen. She graduated from Traer Public School in 1959. Darrellene was united in marriage to Tom Lane on January 1, 2006 in Vinton.
Darrellene is lovingly remembered by her husband, Tom; her daughters, Eva (Gary) Schlichting, Traer, IA, and Donna Cook, Martindale, TX; her parrot, CoCo; 5 grandchildren, Charlie, Casey and Chastity Kacher, Coleton and special granddaughter, Cyrell Cook; and 3 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Darrell (Kathy) Sivertsen of Traer, Iowa, “Monk” Sivertsen of Shueyville, Iowa, and Kevin Rimrodt of Norfolk, Virginia; 2 nieces and 1 nephew and one special niece, June Sivertsen.
Darrellene was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Cindy Sivertsen.
Darrellene enjoyed quilting (in 2009 one of her quilts won 1st place, Best of Senior Citizen category at the Benton County Fair), gardening, crocheting, a variety of other crafts and going to garage sales. She collected Pepsi trucks, cars, and Mickey Mouse memorabilia. Darrellene had an avid appreciation of Native American art and turquoise.
She was a licensed cosmetologist who owned her own beauty salon for ten years. Darrellene enjoyed competing in bowling and dart leagues where she won numerous trophies, including bowling several perfect games.
