BRANDON: Don E. Bistline, 88 died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 East Sixth Street in Vinton. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Vinton with military rites conducted by the Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post #57. Visitation will be from 4 – 6 PM Wednesday also at the funeral home. Don was born January 30, 1927 in Luzerne to Charles and Emma Zamastil Bistline. He served his country in the United States Army in Korea. Don was united in marriage to Virginia Brehm March 21, 1954 in Vinton.

Don farmed in the Brandon area and drove truck for Ivan Steinbeck for over forty years. He was a member of the Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post # 57 in Vinton. Don especially enjoyed playing Santa Claus for over sixty years.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Virginia of Brandon; his son, Roger Bistline of Walker; his daughter, Roxann Bistline of Brandon; his four sisters, Elsie Whitsel of Chelsea, Lucille Meyer of Mesa, Arizona, Joyce Staab of Vinton and Jean (Robert) Reid of Corpus Christi, Texas and his sister-in-law, Marie Bistline of Brandon.

In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his brother, Harley Bistline and his sister, Verna Rushton.
