Arnold H. Gaumnitz, age 89 years, of Lee’s Summit, Mo.(formerly of Vinton, Ia), passed away Monday, June 15, 2015 at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.

Arnold was born on November 28, 1925 in Merrill, Iowa a son of the late Paul and Mathilda (Schultz) Gaumnitz. He was married on June 14, 1951 to Marian Fischer, who preceded him in death on June 6, 2005.

Arnold served in the Pacific during WWII. He then attended college, earning several degrees including a Specialist Degree in Education. He was employed as a teacher and guidance counselor for over thirty years, primarily in Vinton, Ia. as the high school guidance counselor.

While in Vinton, he was a member of the First Baptist Church, Kiwanis Club and Gideons International. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and making stained glass. He was a gifted teacher, caring husband and father, and loved the Lord with all his heart, soul, and strength.

Survivors include his children, Becky (Doug) Neve of Chatfield, Minnesota, Bob (Julie) Gaumnitz of Herrin, Illinois, and Mike (Jennifer) Gaumnitz of Lenexa, Kansas; five grandchildren, Brian (Michelle) Neve, Kristen (Christian) Klein, Grace (Andrew) Rebhorn, John Gaumnitz, and Kaylee Gaumnitz; and one great-grandson, Miles Neve.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and a sister.
