BLAIRSTOWN: Arlene L. (Rathje) McMann, 92 of Blairstown died Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Rosehaven Care Center in Marengo.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church in Blairstown with Rev. David Rempfer officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Blairstown. Visitation will be 6 to 8 PM, Wednesday, June 24 also at Grace Lutheran Church. A memorial fund has been established. Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown is in charge of arrangements.
Arlene was born March 28, 1923 to Albert and Louise (Gerhold) Rathje near Atkins, Iowa. She attended school and graduated from Atkins High School. Arlene was united in marriage to Paul E. McMann on February 4, 1948. Arlene and Paul farmed in the Luzerne and Marengo areas before settling in the Blairstown area. Paul preceded her in death on June 27, 2011.
She had been an active member of Grace Lutheran Church where she participated in Ladies Aide and Fellowship Club. Their family was very active in 4-H, where she served as a 4-H Leader and as a State 4-H Family. Following retirement, Arlene took up golfing and she enjoyed playing many rounds of golf with Paul. Arlene was also active in card club for many years.
Arlene is survived by her children, Colette (William) McMosley of Salina, Kansas, Rick (Deborah) McMann, Mark (Kay) McMann all of Williamsburg and Jean McMann of Golden, Colorado. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Tammi (Mike) Farrelly, Todd Niebes, Lisa Rabe, Jason (Erika) Rabe, Andy (Shannon) Rabe, Chris McMann, Joel (Amy) McMann, Dena (Christian) Shonts, Nickolas (Christy) Dellamuth, Ty McMann, Jodi (Brad) Buchan and Mike (Christie) McMann; 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; her sister, Maurine Rathje of Salt Lake City, Utah and her brother, Alan (Judy) Rathje of Cedar Rapids.
In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Paul and her son Terry Niebes.
