Kurt Buckingham

Vinton—Kurt Buckingham, 70, died peacefully Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. Luke’s Hopsital in Cedar Rapids following a lengthy illness. Honoring Kurt’s wishes, there will be no formal services.

Kurt Lloyd Buckingham was born September 10, 1944 in Independence, IA, to Albert and Amandabelle Postel Buckingham. Kurt’s family moved to Vinton and he attended Vinton Schools. Kurt served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1961 to 1965. On May 7, 1966 he married Diane Duello in Vinton. Kurt retired in 2006.

Kurt is survived by his wife of 49 years, Diane Duello Buckingham, Vinton; son, Brian (April) Buckingham, Denton, TX; daughter, Amy (John) Zimmerman, Onalaska, WI; sister, Karyl (Steve) Henry, Mt. Auburn, IA; brothers, Kent (Vicky) Buckingham, Vinton and Craig Buckingham; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Joyce Bechthold and Sherry Walker.

A memorial fund has been established.
