VINTON: Dale A. Evens, 65, died Sunday, September 12, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following an apparent heart attack.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel 212 E. 6th Street in Vinton with Rev. Jim Blair officiating. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 PM on Thursday. A Memorial Fund has been established.
The son of Ray and Jessie Mae (Kearns) Evens, Dale was born on May 6, 1945, in Vinton. On October 11, 1968 he was united in marriage to Mary Bell in Galena, Illinois.
Dale worked at John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo for 22 years.
In his leisure Dale enjoyed watching Nascar and professional wrestling. He loved camping and fabricating his own camping tools. Dale dearly loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Mary of Vinton, he is survived by 3 sons, Rodney (Tami) Evens of Vinton, Jim (Charissa) Evens of Oelwein, Charlie Evens of Anamosa; 2 daughters, Julie Evens of Anamosa, Nicole Adams-Peal of Marion; 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, three brothers, Joe (Sharon) Evens of Washington State, Carl (Theresa) Evens of Toledo, Ohio, Art (Ruth) Evens of Cedar Rapids and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; 2 grandchildren; 4 sisters, Esther, Arlene, Patricia and Marcella and 4 brothers, Matthew, Arnold, Ronald and Floyd.
