VINTON: Jimmy Johnson, age 42, of Vinton died Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 PM, Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 East Sixth Street in Vinton with Pastor Matt Hantz officiating. Visitation will be from 2 PM until service time on Saturday. Private interment will be held at a later date. A Memorial Fund has been established.
James Carl Johnson was born March 2, 1973 to Carl Dean and Glenyce Mae (Bechthold) Johnson at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton. Jimmy worked as a Millwright for CR Conveying in Cedar Rapids.
He was united in marriage to Heather Riggle on January 27, 1995 at the Benton County Courthouse. Jimmy was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, bow hunting and fishing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing his love of the outdoors with them.
Jimmy honorably served his country in the United States Army and the National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Heather; his children, Austin, Andy and Kayla Mae Johnson all of Vinton; his two brothers, David (Linda) Johnson, Steven (Delicia) Johnson; his sister, Darbie (Kerry) Britt and many nieces and nephews.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents.
