BRANDON: Pastor Roland R. “Ron” Fulton, age 68, died Wednesday, May 11, 2016 following a struggle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 16, 2016 at Oak Grove Church, rural Shellsburg with Pastor Jesse Henkle officiating. Interment will follow at the Walker Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church on Monday. A memorial fund has been established.

“Ron” was born on June 25, 1947 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Veryl and Ruby (Hook) Fulton. On June 15, 1968, he was united in marriage to Kathleen Brown at the Jubilee Church in La Porte City. He worked as an over the road truck driver for many years with K & B Trucking in Sioux City. He answered a calling and became a pastor later in life.

Ron and Kathleen enjoyed camping and both served as state officers with the Good Sam Club. He also enjoyed fishing and was a skilled mechanic.

He is survived by his wife Kathleen of Vinton; 2 daughters, Brendalee (Chad Wiest) Fulton of La Porte City, Ronnetta (Scott) Slager of Vinton; 5 grandchildren, Andrea and fiance’ Adam Fulton, Kristen Arends, Kyleray Arends, Destiny Slager and Dakota Slager; 3 great grandchildren, Aiddan Mather, LaKiya Mather and Roxton Thorp; 2 brothers, George (Rose) Fulton of Brandon and Verlen (Lauraine) Fulton of Independence and his sister-in-law Judy Fulton of California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Roland Ray Fulton Jr., his granddaughter Chelsea Arends and his brother James Fulton.
