Kelly Renee (Young) Garner, 50 died Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at the University of Iowa from a sudden illness. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, June 5, 2016 followed by a gathering of family and friends from 3 - 6 PM at Blessed Hope Church, Vinton. Pastor Matt Hantz will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the family. Phillips Funeral Home - Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Kelly Renee Young was born August 6, 1965 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton to Gordon Lee and Kathryn (Lund) Young. She graduated from Washington High School in Vinton with the Class of 1984. Kelly enjoyed working at the Vinton Family Restaurant (Café 218) for the past nine years where the staff became her second family. In her leisure she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, she also enjoyed relaxing after work.
Kelly is survived by her parents, Kathryn Smith and Gordon Young of Vinton; her children, April (Mark Thompson) Young and Dusty (Vanessa) Kearns of Vinton; her grandchildren, Justina , Jeremy, Serenity, Justice and Ryelin, Davis and Sterling; her brothers, Mikki and Ricki Young and sisters, Kimbery and Wanda Young
She was preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Renae Young, and both sets of Grandparents.
