Lance A. Hook, 43, died suddenly on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. Lance’s new body is healed and in the arms of Jesus.
A Celebration Of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, August 18, 2016 at Heartland Vineyard Church, 1405 Greenhill Rd, in Cedar Falls with Pastor Dan Paxton officiating. Friends may register at the church after 10 a.m. Private Committal services will be held at Maplewood Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 17th at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
Lance was born July 16, 1973 in Ottumwa a son of Larry and Marsha (Underwood) Hook. He graduated from Vinton’s Washington High School in 1992.
Lance was employed with the State Job Coach Program. He had volunteered at the Vinton Lutheran Home. He loved animals, music, movies, playing video games and cards, and bowling. Lance loved Jesus and attended church whenever he could.
His memory will be cherished by his loving parents, Larry and Marsha Hook of Vinton; his sister, Malea (Scott) Lee of Vinton; his brothers, Lucas Hook of Cedar Rapids, Michael (Adrianne) Hook of Vinton and Marty (Sammie) Hook of Cedar Rapids; nephews, Anil Kalmoni and Tyler Lee; and numerous aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

I just heard about Lance. I am so sorry. I have nothing but good memories of Lance. My favorite memory is watching Lance and his dog Ratchet play. Lance would chase Ratchet down 8th ave and shared popsicles with him. Lance was such a great person. Thinking of you
