Bob Ogier VINTON - Robert Dean "Bob" Ogier, Sr., 74, died Friday, December 8, 2017, at La Porte City Specialty Care following a long illness. A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton with Rev. Sue Thomas officiating. Visitation will be held at the church in the Fireside Room from 1 to 2 p.m. Military rites will be conducted by Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post 57 of Vinton and Iowa Military Funeral Honors of Des Moines. Bob was born June 28, 1943, in Pueblo, Colorado, the son of Kenneth and Arlene Ogier Kelly. He graduated from high school in Florence, Colorado. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army. He served in Korea and two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post 57 in Vinton. Following his military service, he lived in Woodbridge, VA, for 30 years before moving to Vinton in 1992. On October 4, 1976, Bob was united in marriage with Connie Beyer in Woodbridge, Virginia. Bob worked in sales for Precision Alternators and Starters in Virginia and at Parsons Technology in Cedar Rapids. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Vinton and served on their Finance Committee. Bob enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading and playing cards. Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Connie Ogier, of Vinton; his children: Robert D. (Maria) Ogier, Jr. of Savannah, GA, and Shelley (Steve) Bradfield of Joplin, MO; his step-children, Kirk (Jennifer) Brandt of Ashburn, VA, and Tami (Bob Mahood) Stark of Vinton; one sister, Connie (Ed) Bible of Pueblo, CO; and 9 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be directed to Wesley United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
