ATKINS:  Michael “Belushi” Dan Kolsrud, 70 died Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a tough battle with kidney and heart failure.  Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 East Sixth Street in Vinton, the family requests those attending dress casually.  Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg.  Visitation will be from 4 – 7 PM, Tuesday also at the funeral home.  A memorial fund has been established.  Online condolences may be left at:  www.phillipsfuneralhomes.com. Michael Dan Kolsrud was born July 18, 1948 in Urbana to Earl H. and Grace E. (Lint) Kolsrud.  He attended Shellsburg Schools and was later united in marriage to Frances J. Young on September 24, 1966.  They enjoyed 49 years of marriage together.  Frances preceded him in death on January 11, 2016.  “Belushi” worked at Farmstead for 27 years and Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids for 10 years. In his leisure he loved to hunt for morel mushrooms, ride his Harley, play cribbage, participate in pool league and hunt deer.  He also enjoyed tinkering with his many clocks. “Belushi” is survived by his children:   Scott (Deb Hefner) Kolsrud of Cedar Rapids, Michele Kolsrud of Cedar Rapids, Melissa (Brad) Madison of Norway and Stacy (Nathan) Stoneking of Hiawatha; four grandchildren, Felicia, Sebastien, Kyle and Hunter; step-grandson, Michael Hefner; six great grandchildren, Emma, Corbin, Serena, Niko, Jackson and Leo; brothers, Jerry (Marilyn) Kolsrud of Shellsburg and Larry Kolsrud of Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Frances. “Belushi” will be dearly missed by all those that knew him.
