Bernice Stover

VINTON: Bernice Stover, 93 died Saturday, January 1, 2011 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at Phillips Family Center, 605 2nd Ave. in Vinton where friends may call from 10 AM until service time.

Interment will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday at Northlawn Memory Gardens in Iowa Falls. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be given to the Vinton Lutheran Home.

Bernice was born March 2, 1917 at Conrad, Iowa, to John and Elizabeth (Hundertmark) Markwitz. She graduated from Conrad High School. On January 8, 1937, she married Merle Stover in Missouri. He preceded her in death in August, 1994.

Bernice was a member of the Methodist Church in Iowa Falls for over 50 years. A loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother, she enjoyed cooking, quilting, and sewing for family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Claudette (Mert) Alpers of Vinton, her sons Ronald (Jean) Stover of Norfolk, VA. and Jon (Mary) Stover of Iowa Falls; her grandchildren Luann (Kurt) Karr of Vinton, Jolynn (Mike) Roths of Stevensville, MT, Brent (Carrie) Stover of Florence, KY, Kristin (Brian) Tidman of New Providence, and Keith (Chrissie) Stover, and Daryn (Jennifer) Stover of Norfolk, VA and Cindy Stover (Carl Whelan) of Philadelphia, PA; her great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren and her sister in law, Darlene Markwitz of Conrad and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
