Edward “Dean” Lint, age 84, passed away on Monday, November 18, 2019, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 21, 2019, at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel (212 E. 6th Street) in Vinton.  Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at the Garrison Cemetery.

Dean was born on January 31, 1935, in Shellsburg, the son of Carl Edward and Mary Anna (Vogt) Lint.  On March 26, 1958, he was united in marriage to Waneta Mae Smith at the parsonage in Garrison.

Dean worked as a welder at Kruger’s in Garrison, retiring in 1997.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, lawn work and bird watching, especially the cardinals that visited his home.  His greatest joy was his family, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren

He is survived by his wife Waneta; children, Mark Lint, Vicky Grimm, Diana (Timm) Haefner, Ronda (Doug) Petersen, all of Garrison, and Brenda (Lenny) Engelking of Keystone; 12 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Brad Lint, son-in-law, Kim Grimm; 3 grandchildren, Brittney Glime, Anny Engelking, and Daniel Grimm; sister Ruby Wheeler; and brother Donald Lint.
