Obituaries : Benny Duffer

Benny Duffer, 63, died Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at his home in Vinton following a lengthy battle with cancer.

A celebration of Benny's life will be held from 1 to 4 pm, Saturday, December 14, 2019, at the Vinton American Legion Hall.

Benny Dewayne Duffer was born March 18, 1956 in Hendersonville, TN, the son of Ben and Lillie Jones Duffer. After graduating from high school, Benny attended college for a time but his passion was making music and that is the career he pursued. Benny married Linda Chesmore on July 18th 1981 in Urbana Ia. and they later divorced but remained lifelong friends and companions. Besides playing music, Benny enjoyed, computers, kayaking and making jewelry.

He is survived by his lifelong companion, Linda; sons, Ben Lively, TX, Michael (Cheryl Payne) Duffer Sr., Vinton, Joseph Duffer, Newhall; daughters, Christina (Ivan) Nichols, UK, Annie (Cody) Hughes, GA; brother, Michael Duffer, TN; sisters, Donna Knibbe, Darlene Gougher, Jenny (Ronnie) High and Kimberly (Shawn) Christiansen, all of TN; 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Roger.
