Obituaries : Darwin Robert Selk

Darwin Robert Selk, 84, died Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospice in Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services will be 10:30 Saturday, January 18, 2020 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Garrison with Pastor Mark Leckband officiating. Visitation will be at the church an hour before services on Saturday. Burial will be in the Dysart Cemetery.

Darwin Robert Selk was born October 3, 1935 in Dysart, the son of Wilbert "Pete" and Elenora Bevins Selk. He attended school in Garrison and served for a brief period in the United States Navy. He was a longtime member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Garrison. As a youngster, Darwin enjoyed working with his dad, riding his motorcycle and being around horses. As a resident of Windsor Manor for the past several years he enjoyed bingo, bus rides and satisfying his sweet tooth with ice cream and candy.

Darwin is survived by his sisters, Shirley Readnour and Carole (Rick) Anderson, both of Cedar Rapids and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Rudy Readnour.
