Richard William Riha, Jr., 48, of Tama, passed away Monday, April 20, 2020 at UnityPoint-Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Private Family Services will be held at a future date.
Richard was born on March 28, 1972, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Richard William and Norma J. (Noe) Riha, Sr.
He graduated from South Tama High School in 1990.
On June 27, 1998, he married Vicki Opheim and together they had three daughters. They later divorced. Rich was a treatment plant operator for the Poweshiek Water Association for twenty-two years and helped Brian Doyle farm. He loved trucking and fall harvest, "Window Farming", snowmobiling and riding ATV's. Rich was very handy and could fix anything. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and quirky personality. He was great with children and loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. His greatest joy was being with his daughters.
Survivors include three daughters, Alexis Riha of Vining, Kaitlyn Riha and Breanna Riha both at home in Tama; his mother, Norma Riha of Elberon; siblings, Karen Craig of Vacaville, CA, Caroline Nekola of Elberon, Barbara (Michael) Gehling of Keystone, Tammy (Brad) Price of Keystone, Norma A. (Tom) Svacina of Tama, Timothy Riha of Elberon, Debra (Ronald) Deen of West Burlington, and Teresa (Carl) Bennett of Orange Park, FL; his significant other, Jennifer Flora-Ferris; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Riha Sr. on March 4, 2011; one brother, Ronald Riha on June 16, 2005.
Memorials may be directed to his girls.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
