Daryl Gene Franzenburg, age 55, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.
Private family funeral services will be held with burial at the Keystone Cemetery.
Daryl was born on April 13, 1965 in Cedar Rapids, the son of Gene and Dorothy (Bates) Franzenburg. He graduated from Benton Community High School with the class of 1983. On September 11, 1993, he was united in marriage to Gina (Benson) Wells in Cedar Rapids, they had two sons, Caleb and Trevor, the couple later divorced.
Daryl was a loving and devoted father to his sons. His favorite pastime was cheering and watching them throughout their school careers. He was very proud of his boys and loved sharing their accomplishments. He was an avid sports fan, dedicated to his beloved Denver Broncos and also enjoyed playing golf and bags. Daryl never met a stranger in his life and loved spending time with his family and many friends. He was always a kid at heart and kids of all ages gravitated to him. He just loved having a good time and his laugh is unforgettable. Farming held a special place in Daryl's heart as he grew up on a century family farm outside of Keystone. His most recent employment brought him back to farming again.
He is survived by his sons, Caleb Franzenburg of Center Point, Trevor Franzenburg (girlfriend Taylor Schmuecker) of Fairfax; his mother and stepfather Dorothy and Dean Teslik of Swisher; brother Darren (Barb) Franzenburg; sister Jena (Trent) Jacobi of San Antonio, TX; nieces and nephews, Dillon Franzenburg, Dakoda Franzenburg, Dayton (Kain) Cortez, Kara (Kesler) Schulmeister, Karly Stahlhut, Katlyn (Cory) Mayhew, Rachael (Brandon) Dunn, Zachary (Kaitlyn) Jacobi, Lauren Jacobi; great niece Alison Dunn and great nephews Kayson and Kanton Cortez, River Stahlhut, Estin Schulmeister and Rhett Mayhew; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father Gene Daryl Franzenburg.
Honorary Pallbearers: Dillon Franzenburg, Zachary Jacobi, Jeff (Murf) Franzenburg, Jason Franzenburg, Dwayne Schmuecker and Terry Schmuecker.
