Obituaries : Patricia “Patty” Lawless

Patricia "Patty" Lawless, age 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at her home in rural Shellsburg.

Private family graveside services will be held at the Brandon Cemetery.

Patty was born on May 19, 1944, in New Sharon, Iowa, the daughter of Vernon and Joyce (Meyer) Dewitt. She was united in marriage to John A. Lawless on March 7, 1962 in Dodge Center, MN.

Patty was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and raising flowers on their acreage. In her leisure, she enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota and loved to dance.

She is survived by three sons, Karey Lawless of Texas, John Lawless of Brandon, and Jeff Lawless of Minnesota; two daughters, Cindy (Ron) Cress of Shellsburg, and Jolene (Mike) Welton of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John in 2012; and her grandson John Dakota Lawless.
