Mark D. "Magic" Volesky, age 57, of Newhall, died at home Sunday, August 30, 2020.
Public graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 4, 2020 at St. Patrick and St. Paul Cemetery Watkins with Deacon Joe Behounek officiating. A private family scripture service will be held at Phillips Funeral Home in Blairstown. Memorial contributions may be directed to Camp Courageous in Mark's name.
Mark was born November 26, 1962 in Cedar Rapids to Marvin and Margie (Zenisek) Volesky. He graduated from Washington High School in Vinton with the class of 1982 and attended the welding program at Kirkwood Community College. Mark farmed with his father in the Newhall area, and also enjoyed working at the Newhall Locker. He was currently employed with the Benton County Roads Department. Mark was very active in the Benton County Pork Producers and was proud to be a 20-gallon blood donor. He enjoyed farming and loved John Deere Tractors. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his mother Margie Volesky; siblings, Barb (John) McCray of Maquoketa, Gary (Barb) Volesky of Newhall, Kathy (Doug) Schmuecker of Marengo; nieces and nephews, Christina (Terrance) Nissen of Bettendorf, Jenny (Dave) DeWitt of Maquoketa, Julie (Jason) Povlick of Heathrow, FL, Robert (Beth) Volesky of Springfield, VA, Matthew (Kristy) Volesky of Polk City, IA, Alex (Dana) Volesky of Lincoln, CA, Emily (Mitch Downey) Volesky of Cedar Rapids, Nathan (Elisabeth) Schmuecker of Wellman, IA, Nick (Sara) Schmuecker of Davenport, IA; and many great-nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Marvin in 2001.
