Jeffery B. Butler, Sr., 65, died peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his residence. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Jeff was born on August 20, 1955 to Belvie and Billy Sue (Bray) Butler at Kennett, MO. After his father died when he was very young, Jeff was raised by his step-father, Elder "Junior" Sewell.
Jeff attended elementary school in Hopkinton. He graduated from Maquoketa Valley High School in Delhi, where he excelled in wrestling and advanced to the state tournament as a heavy weight. Jeff served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. Following his discharge, Jeff was employed as a steelworker and as a tuckpointer for Karr Tuckpointing until he was forced to retired due to health issues.
Jeff enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and also enjoyed watching WWE wrestling, but his greatest joy came from being a "Grandpa".
He is survived by his sons, Jeffery, Jr., and his wife, Tiffanie of Vinton, and Caleb and his wife, Olivia of Mt. Auburn and Jason Johnson of Cedar Rapids; several grandchildren; and his siblings, Teresa Burgess, Steve Butler, Marilyn Powell and Melissa Beck.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Belvie and Billy Sue; his step-father, "Junior"; three brothers and one sister.
